What is Stripe BBPOS WisePOS E ?

You all must be curious about what exactly is the Stripe BBPOS WisePOS E. So, The BBPOS WisePOS E is an electronic reader that can be used on countertops for Stripe Terminal apps. It connects to Stripe Terminal SDK over the internet. This reader works with JavaScript, iOS, and Android SDKs.

Another important question many people have is how to configure it properly in server-driver at stripe and get the best use of it. Here below, we have created a step-by-step guide to set up BBPOS WisePOS E with the relevant examples for your reference.

Set up BBPOS WisePOS E

Below are steps to follow – The simplest way to register your reader is to add it to the Dashboard.

1. If you’ve already created a Location, click on it. Otherwise, create one by clicking + New.
2. Under the Readers section, click + New.
3. Go to the BBPOS WisePOS E settings and then tap Generate pairing code.
4. Enter the code when prompted.

After you register your reader, it’s ready to use with the server-driven integration. We recommend storing the reader ID (tmr_xxx) within your application so you know which reader to send transactions to from your point of sale. You can retrieve reader IDs using the list readers endpoint.

How To configure BBPOS WisePOS E smart Card Readers in Server-driver at Stripe Dashboard

While configuring the BBPOS WisePOS E smart card readers in server-driver at stripe dashboard we have faced some issues. To overcome those issues we did various tests and methods to fix. At last, we achieved the end goal. In the below steps you will get to know about the problems raised and the solution to fix the BBPOS WisePOS E card reader machine stuck on stripe screen.

Problem 1:

In our case when we started the card readers machine and we stuck on the stripe screen.

because BBPOS WisePOS E smart card readers are not connected to the stripe dashboard so first follow the steps to setup BBPOS WisePOS E mentioned at the top of this article.

Solution to the problem faced

Terminal reader reconnect :

The first step is to unplug the Terminal reader for 10 seconds and reconnect into it.

To check its connectivity to Stripe :

Go to settings, then select Diagnostics. This displays a list of troubleshooting tests to check Stripe connectivity and ensure it connectivity test “Passed” or ”fails”. Then Go to the BBPOS WisePOS E settings and then tap Generate pairing code

Access settings :

To open the settings menu, swipe right from the left edge of the smart card reader screen to display the settings button. Click on the Settings button and enter the admin PIN. From here you can update generate a pairing code for device registration.

Under the Readers section, click on the Add reader or New option for adding registered code to the stripe dashboard to know which smart card reader is active or inactive.

In the above picture, you can see that reader serial number when you click on it then you see reader id. We recommend storing the reader ID (tmr_xxx) within your application so you know which reader to send transactions to from your point of sale.

 

Determining Customer Locations :

Smart card reader register on the specific (street address), city, state, postal code, and country. If buyers use card readers at different registered locations then they are not connected to the stripe and are still stuck on the stripe. The other address, state, postal code fields aren’t used to calculate tax and receiving payment.

So the solution, for that situation you can change the location, address, city, state, postal code on the stripe dashboard for working smart card reader properly.

 

Connect the reader to the internet :

Because the BBPOS WisePOS E is a smart reader, its reader software communicates directly with stripe, managing connectivity through a LAN and WIFI. The smart card reader must connect to the same local network as your point of sale application.

Wi-Fi

To connect to Wi-Fi or switch networks, go to settings, then select the network setting to choose the Wi-Fi network and connect. Attempting to join a new network disconnects the reader from any existing Wi-Fi wireless connection. Your Wi-Fi network must use WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption and be password protected for security. Non-WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption and password-protected networks or enterprise networks are not supported.

Ethernet

Ethernet connectivity requires the use of an optional dock, which provides wired Ethernet connectivity and keeps your smart card reader fully charged using the included charging cable.
The reader obtains an IP address using DHCP. As soon as the network cable is plugged in the smart card reader attempts to establish communication with Stripe.

Now your Stripe credit card terminal (BBPOS WisePOS E) is connected to stripe dashboard!

Problem 2:

Payment Refund and Cancellation:

Initially, we were not able to find the refunding and cancelled payment status verification, which is becoming a big hindrance to our business. At last by following the below mentioned steps we found the details.

Payment Refund

Refunds can be issued using through the API or the Dashboard are processed immediately. When refunds are issued, refunds can’t be cancelled.

Find the payment to be refunded on the payments overview page on the stripe dashboard.

1. Click the icon to the right of the charge and select Refund payment.
2. By default, you’ll get issued a full refund. For a partial refund, enter a different amount to be refunded on the dashboard.
3. Select a reason for the refund. If you select the Other, you must provide an explanatory note that is attached to the refund.
4. Click Refund.

Payment Cancellation

You can cancel a Payment, click the icon to the right of the charge, and select cancel payment. if you no longer payment intend to use it to collect payments from the customer. Cancelling a Payment is optional, and it’s okay to keep a Payment in an incomplete status like (requires_confirmation or requires_payment_method).

A Payment can only be cancelled when it has one of the following statuses like requires_payment_method, requires_capture, requires_confirmation. The payment can’t be cancelled while it’s actively processing on the smart card readers or stripe dashboard or after it has succeeded.
